Dichroic glass is a special glass type coated with layers of metal in a special vacuum chamber at high temperatures.
Originally developed by NASA as a coating for space suits, it is now widely used in art glass.
We recieve the dichroic
in sheets which are then cut into pieces and than fused between a sandwich of hot glass on a torch. Dichroic glass reflects one color but transmits a second color, creating a shifting range of colors depending the angle of the light.”
Dichroic glass are available as plugs, lagrimas, and finger rings. We are working on a new range of colors in fused dichroic glass to be released soon!
